The United States of America, the world’s leading nation in both military and economic power, is currently led by President Donald Trump, who, as you know, is a man whose decisions change from morning to evening. He behaves as if he were an emperor, yet there is not a single person who admonishes him.
To counter this pseudo‑emperor with a true emperor, the figure I selected was Marcus Aurelius, the 16th Roman Emperor. Gifted with great learning and called the “Philosopher Emperor,” he was an ideal leader. There could be no one more suitable.
I also paid close attention to the visuals. I dressed Trump in a flashy gold suit to emphasize his nouveau‑riche impression to the extreme. Marcus Aurelius, on the other hand, I clothed in a purple imperial robe and a laurel wreath, giving him an overwhelming sense of dignity and stern authority. With the Colosseum set as the background, I further highlighted this contrast to complete this satirical illustration.
