Considering how often he mocked Biden as “Sleepy Joe,” what a pathetic yet ironic sight this is—so I decided to turn it into a satirical illustration.

The idea came from my usual catchphrase. Whenever I’m wrapping up an image generation or writing task, I tend to type “I’m tired, Patrasche” into the AI. (It’s almost always ignored, though…)

However, while A Dog of Flanders is fairly well‑known in Japan, it seems much less familiar overseas. A bit of a gamble, perhaps. If you’re curious, look it up.

In the original tale, Patrasche is a sturdy, grayish Bouvier des Flandres, whereas the Japanese anime version depicts him more like a Saint Bernard. Since I can’t use the Japanese design for copyright reasons—and because the target audience for this satire is English‑speaking—I chose the Bouvier des Flandres.

The background is Antwerp Cathedral, where Nello and Patrasche breathe their last. If Trump were lying flat, the dog would obscure him, so I positioned him lying across the dog instead.

To highlight the struggles Americans face with rising prices due to the Iran War, I added a twist on the MAGA slogan: “MAKE ALL GASOLINE AFFORDABLE.” That’s the core message of this piece.

And to contrast with the otherwise emotional scene, I had the crowd hold placards, giving the whole composition a surreal tone.
